ORPHEUS "JOYFUL" Well known songwriters contributed specially written material for the Orpheus 3rd album, "Joyful" which contains the haunting album/chart single "Brown Arms in Houston" written for them by lyricist Joe Henry, John Denver's co-writer, and the cross-pop/gospel, "By The Size of My Shoes" written for them by "Rhinestone Cowboy" composer, Larry Weiss. The song "Joyful/Of Enlightenment" concludes an all too brief but lasting chronicle of the beauty of the original Orpheus group. ORPHEUS "IV" After the third album was released, the original group broke up. Two years later, Bruce Arnold and Orpheus writer Steve Martin formed the basis of what became the 4th Orpheus album, an extraordinary mixture of old and new. Steve Martin (not heard until the 4th album) had written Door Knob Song, Music Machine, and Congress Alley for the early group, and fit into the group’s end period with the majority of the album’s songs and its musical progression and ultimate end. Martin's poignant, Tomorrow Man, on the 4th album signified a looking back then moving on |
